Friday, August 4

Pine Knot/Luncheon Cruise/Sagamore package $49 pp.

9 am     Town dock for barge ride to Camp Pine Knot.

9:30-11:30      Guided tour Pine Knot  (Collis P. Huntington estate.)

11:30-11:40      Pick up by Durant at Pine Knot dock

11:45-1:30      Luncheon cruise with historic narration (sail by other Great Camps including the Carnegie estate, Connecticut Governor Lounsbury's estate and  the Collier publishing family estate.)

1:30      Dock 

1:30-2:00     Drive to Sagamore

2:00-4:00      Guided tour Great Camp Sagamore (Alfred Vanderbilt estate)  Contact Raquette Lake Navigation office for reservations.  Credit card prepayment required.  Maximum- 56 people.  Pine Knot & luncheon cruise are inseparable;  Sagamore tour optional.

Durant Days at the Adirondack Museum $10 pp, Limit 50.  Reservations required.  Call 518-352-7311, x 116.   One hour guided tour (10 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 2 pm) plus access to the Museum's exhibits from 9:30 am-5:30 pm.  Designated picnic areas or lunch in the Museum's glass-enclosed cafeteria.

7:00 pm      Free guided tour of Great Camp Sagamore, Vanderbilt retreat for over 50 years.  William West Durant was the architect.


8:00-11:00 pm      Barn Dance at Sagamore.  Free.  For more information call 315-354-5311 x21.  Supported by a grant from the Town of Long Lake.

 

Saturday, August 7

Enjoy a hike around Sagamore Lake (3 1/2 miles) or go fishing on Raquette Lake - (Boat rentals available from Burke's or Bird's Marinas).

Mailboat runs at 10:00 am from Bird's Marina $8.

Durant Days at the Adirondack Museum $10 pp.  Take a guided tour of select exhibits at the Adirondack Museum.  Discover why the Durants are considered pioneers in the development of the Great North Woods.  Rich with historic photographs from the Museum's collection, the guided tour will be one hour in length (10-11am and again at 1-2 pm).  Limit 50.  Reservations required.  Call 518-352-7311, x 116.  One hour guided tour plus access to the Museum's exhibits from 9:30 am-5:30 pm.  Designated picnic areas or lunch in the Museum's glass-enclosed cafeteria.


OR 

Sagamore Ecohistory Tour $22 pp.  Combines an interpretive hike of the woods around Sagamore with an extensive tour of the camp itself.  First, hike the trail around Sagamore Lake, visit an old sugar shack where maple sugar became the syrup at Sagamore's table, and witness Sagamore's old farm meadow, now slowly returning to its natural condition.  After lunch in Sagamore's lakeside, wood-paneled dining hall, take a closer look at the camp itself:   Durant's luxurious attempt to make visitors feel part of wild nature.  Reservations and prepayment required.   5 hour time commitment.  Call Sagamore at 315-354-5311.

Sunday, August 8

The historic churches of Raquette Lake invite you to services:

[NOTICE - If you opt for the historic churches tour, you will be departing the village dock at 9:00AM and will NOT return until about 5:00PM from Camp Pine Knot. The tour is organized to provide the maximum of information, but at a relaxed pace.  The Island Hopping Package is $35 pp.  This is a total day commitment.  Credit card prepayment required.  Call 354-5532.  Maximum 50 people.]

9:00 am Meet at town dock for free boat ride to St. Hubert's Island.

9:30-10:30 am Guided Tour of Durant's historic Church of the Good Shepherd (1880, Episcopal Church) followed by coffee and donuts at the Rectory. Donations accepted.

10:30 am Boat ride from St. Hubert's to St. William's on Long Point.

11:00-1:00 pm Guided Tour of Durant's historic St. William's Church (1890, Roman Catholic). Picnic lunch and tour.

1:00 pm From St. William's Church, walk or boat ride round the point to Camp Pine Knot.

1:30-3:30 pm Guided tour of Durant's first Great Camp, Pine Knot.

3:30-4:00  Return to town dock or boat ride to St. Hubert's for annual vesper service.

4:00-5:00 (time approximate)  Vesper Service at St. Hubert's with boat ride back to town dock.

10:00 am and 1:30 pm   Regular Sagamore Guided Tours $9.
